Record number named all-conference

A school-record 10 Ohio Northern players were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's lacrosse for 2018.

 

The Polar Bears finished the 2018 season with a school-record 14-3 record, won a share of the OAC Regular Season title with a 7-1 record and advanced to the OAC Tournament under third-year head coach Nat St. Laurent.

 

Juniors Andrew Fox (Solon), Andrew Laudico (Williamsville, N.Y./South) and Matthew Laudico (Williamsville, N.Y./South), Andrew Markell (Missouri City, Tex./Ridge Point), Jackson Pfister (Upper Arlington) and Noah St. Croix (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) and sophomores Kevin Giles (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill), Logan Krogman (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley), Cameron Marous (Brecksville) and John Mullin (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) all received the honor.

Last year, nine Polar Bears were named Academic All-OAC, giving the program 19 in the past two seasons.

All six juniors are repeat honorees as they were all named Academic All-Conference as sophomores in 2017.

The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.

Fox, a defender, is also a three-time All-Conference honoree after being named First Team All-OAC in 2018 and Second Team All-OAC in 2016 and 2017.

He is ONU's all-time career leader with 99 caused turnovers and ranks third all-time with 106 career ground balls.

Andrew Laudico is a long stick defensive midfielder and is a three-year regular for ONU.

In 46 career games, Laudico ranks seventh all-time with 19 caused turnovers and has 48 ground balls and one goal to his credit.

His is majoring in accounting

Matthew Laudico is also an accounting major and is the twin brother of teammate Andrew Laudico.

A defender, Matthew has 24 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in 38 career games.

Markell is a goalkeeper majoring in chemistry.

He played in 10 games this season with three starts this season and posted a perfect 3-0 record with 25 saves and a 3.63 goals against average.

He was named the OAC Defender of the Week twice this season.

In 24 career appearances, Markell has 40 saves and an impressive 4.72 GAA.

Pfister is a three-year starter on defense and was also named Second team All-OAC this spring. This season, he finished with one assist, 24 caused turnovers and 28 ground balls.

He will enter his senior season ranked second all-time at ONU with 107 career ground balls and 58 caused turnovers.

He is majoring in pharmaceutical business.

St. Croix is a three-year starter as an attacker for the Polar Bears and is majoring in marketing. This season, he scored 12 goals and dished out 25 assists for 37 points.

He will enter his senior season ranked second all-time in ONU history with 58 assists in 48 career games. He also ranks fourth all-time with 46 goals and 104 points. He also has seven career hat tricks.

Giles is a business major and is a two-year regular in the midfield.

He started all 17 games this season and scored 20 goals with five assists for 25 points and had two hat tricks.

Krogman is a two-year starter as a long-stick midfielder and is ONU's career leader with 109 ground balls, including a school-record 62 ground balls as a freshman in 2017.

He was also named Second team All-Conference this season.

This season, Krogman was second on the team with 41 ground balls and added three goals on just four shots.

He is majoring in accounting.

Marous is a two-time Second Team All-OAC honoree as an attacker and is majoring in business.

He led the team in all three offensive categories this season. He was second in the OAC with 36 assists, was third in the league with 75 points and was ninth with 36 goals.

After two seasons at ONU, he is the school's all-time career leader with 60 assists and 135 points and is second with 75 career goals.

Mullin is midfielder and is majoring in statistics.

He scored four goals in 16 games this season and had 26 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

He currently ranks sixth all-time in ONU history with 20 career caused turnovers.
