Men’s track picked to finish 3rd in OAC

The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field program has been selected for a third-place finish among the Ohio Athletic Conference under 10th-year head coach Jason Maus in the annual OAC Coaches Preseason Poll.

The Polar Bears received 62 points from the conference's ten head coaches in the poll, which trailed the runner-up spot by just eight points.

Mount Union was named the league favorite, receiving 80 total points and eight first-place votes for the 2019 campaign. Meanwhile, John Carroll racked up 70 points and earned the two remaining first-place votes to stand second overall.

Last season, the Polar Bears finished the 2018 indoor campaign with a 33-17 overall record and scored 104 team points to end third at the 2018 OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Capital. The Purple Raiders claimed the team title with 187.5 points while the Blue Streaks captured second with 111 points.

The Ohio Northern men's and women's track and field teams will open their respective campaigns with a trip to the Tiffin Dragon Open at NCAA Division II institution Tiffin University on Saturday, January 19, 2019
