Ada cross country runners at Althauser Invitational

KENTON - The Ada cross country teams competed in the eighth annual Kyle Althauser Invitational Thursday evening at the Kenton middle school.

The Bulldogs finished seventh in the eight-team meet with 157 points, ahead of Riverdale by 12 points. St. Marys won the meet with 54 points, followed by Hardin Northern (75) and Kenton (83).

Ada finished third among four full teams in the Hardin County race standings. HN was first in the county team race with 32 points, followed by Kenton (38), Ada (75) and Riverdale (82). USV was one runner short of the five needed for a full team.

The Ada boys were paced by senior Jacob Morgan, who finished 15th out of 59 runners in a time of 19:17.1.

Junior Riley Ferguson finished 35th in 21:33.4. Sophomore Robby Waters came home 41st in 22:41.8.

Sophomore Connor Daugherty hit the chute 45th in 23:05.8.

Senior Cole Anspaugh was the fifth Bulldog boy runner, finishing 52nd in 24:24.7.

Perry junior Braden Yingst won the boys individual race in a time of 16:42.4. USV senior Zack Britton came in second in 17:18.5.

Perry, Ridgedale and USV had individuals compete but not enough to field a boys team.

Freshman Elsie Allen came in 37th out of girl 41 runners for Ada. She finished in a time of 28:40.9.

Bulldog freshman Melia Santillanez finished right behind her in 38th place with a strong finishing kick. She covered the course in 29:29.4.

Junior ace Taylor Spencer of Waynesfield won the girls individual race in a time of 18:34.1. She crossed the finish line 2:12 ahead of the second-place runner, Ellen Schloemer of St. Marys.

The Bulldogs next run at the Northwest Conference championship meet in Columbus Grove Saturday, October 17.
