Here's what the Ada Icon is all about

Welcome to the Ada Icon. For first-viewers, here's helpful answers to your questions.

Q: What is the Icon?
A: Think of the Icon as a daily newspaper on the web.

Q: When did it first appear on the web?

How much do I pay to view the Icon?
A: Nothing. It's free to view. Unlike other newspaper websites, there is no limit to the number of stories you may read. And, you may access all of our archived material.

Q: How does the Icon make money?
A: Through very affordable local advertising. We have over 50 local advertisers.

Q: What might we expect to find in The Icon?
A: All sorts of things. Our primary coverage area is the Ada school district. According to Google Analytics, 90 percent of our viewers live winthin 25 miles of Ada. That takes in Lima, Findlay and Kenton. We also have a loyal following of viewers who grew up here and moved away, or who lived here for a time, but no longer do.

Q: How many viewers do you have?
A: Ada Icon experiences over 10,000 viewers in a 30-day period.

Q: Where do you obtain stories for the Icon?
A: Viewers send us news items. We also post all Ohio Northern University news, and cover all aspects of the Ada community.

We post all obituaries provided by area funeral homes. We post obituaries of former residents when their family members provide us with information.

Q: Are there other Icons? Do you have other products in addition to your website?
A: In September 2009 we launched Bluffton Icon (www.blufftonicon.com). It is in a community the same size as Ada and the two school districts touch. There are many commonalities between the two communities, even though they are in different counties. For example, Ada is home of Ohio Northern University, as Bluffton is home of Bluffton University. Ada Icon covers the Ada school district and ONU in the same way that Bluffton Icon covers Bluffton.

TOUR IN PORTUGAL - SEPT. 2023

I’m a retired HS math teacher from Col. Grove, Oh and have been organizing tours ever since retirement to several European countries as well as National parks here and in Canada.  I just completed tours to Spain in March, Scandinavia in July and most recently the Pacific Northwest in October.  My next adventure is to Portugal in September, 2023.

Two reasons to consider signing up for a trip this far out?  One, you can spread your payments out over the next year.  Two, you can lock in your price before any possible price hikes.

I’m always looking for new travelers who are adventurous and want to experience the world.

Feel free to give me a call anytime if you have any questions.

STAMP COLLECTIONS

Need a home for your family stamp collection? Sixty years of collecting taught me most stamps are only worth what I paid long ago. Yet, I still maintain the collecting itch.

I’m now accepting collections from families who don’t know what to do with parents’ collections. I’ll take good care of them. If I find any stamp worth more than $100, I’ll let you know and return to you 50% of the Scott’s Stamp Catalogue listed value price. E-mail Fred Steiner at [email protected].
