Ada Elementary teams participate in Destination Imagination

Three teams from Ada Elementary traveled to the Regional Destination Imagination Tournament on Saturday, March 9 at Sinclair Community College in Dayton.

The Ada Bulldogs Rising Stars team (2nd graders: Rosemary Gargac, Eillie Lee, Makenna Szippl, Hazel Timpe, Abram Toomey, and Max Wile, Team Managers: Jenny Gargac and Amelia Anderson-Wile) participated at a non-competitive level designing and performing a presentation called "Making a Splash" and were praised for their creativity and use of recycled materials in their presentation.

OSU Marching Band director makes a visit to Ada Schools

On March 1, Dr. Chirstopher D. Hoch, director of The Ohio State University Marching Band, visited the Ada Schools to work with its band programs. Dr. Hoch has five degrees, all from OSU, including his doctorate in Music Education.The connection comes from Ada's band director, Carter Bivens, who earned his bachelors in Music Education at Ohio State. Asa an undergraduate, Bivens spent five years in the marching band under the direction of Dr. Hoch.

On Thursday, February 29, the Ada community gathered for a celebration of individuals and organizations that made outstanding contributions during 2023. Based on nominations from individuals, recipients were selected for outstanding volunteer, business of the year and citizen of the year.

Ada Barnyard Farmers kick off 2024 4-H season

On Sunday February 25, 2024, the Ada Barnyard Farmers, had a beginning of the year party at a Bowling Alley at 4 p.m.

Our group had fun bowling, line dancing and playing games. During this meeting we selected our officers of our group. They are listed below. We discussed about important papers that we had to fill in, and about blood work for chickens.

We also discussed about our Poultry Banquet and it will be March 30. Our Goat Banquet will be April 6. Our next meeting will be March 24 at 3:00 p.m.

Dye and Deckling to snowmobile 1,000 miles in 24 hours

Ada area residents Joshua Dye and Donnie Deckling will soon be heading to New Brunswick, Canada to take on the fourth annual 1,000 Mile Challenge, a March 3-9 snowmobile endurance event that helps send kids to summer camp.

Styling themselves as “Team Allison,” they share their purpose on the challenge website where readers can support their effort. Dye: “I’ve always wanted to do it. My wife has cancer and she said I have no choice, I have to go! I want to raise money for kids to go to camp and we’re doing it for my wife, Allison.” Deckling: “Because it’s a challenge.… And Joshua Dye is making me go!”

Invitation to nominate Ada Schools Teacher of the Year

Quest Federal Credit Union will honor the educators of Hardin County with 2024 Teacher of the Year awards. One deserving teacher from each school district will be selected to receive this prestigious award during a special luncheon on May 17.

This is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the outstanding dedication and hard work of Ada educators who go above and beyond for students every day.

Nominations are now open. Students, co-workers, parents, and district residents may nominate candidates. Nominations are open until April 1.
