Firs-time engineering student enrollment increases

“Massive” (at least for Ada) is the word best to describe the James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building now under construction between the pharmacy building and the library. The three-story, $30 million structure, when completed next fall, will double the size of the current Biggs Engineering Building. The new facility already has had a positive impact on the incoming engineering class this fall with more students enrolling in anticipation of a modern learning environment. The number of freshmen students enrolled in engineering is up significantly compared to a year ago as incoming students anticipate the new James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building that will open next fall. Enrollment for first-time engineering students increased from 133 last year to 164 this year. The engineering college overall enrollment increased from 452 to 489. Overall university enrollment—which includes the colleges of arts and sciences, engineering, pharmacy, law, and business—is 3,039 this year compared to 3,088  last year. (Monty Siekerman)
