Arbor Day Foundation designates Ada as 2022 Tree City USA®

LINCOLN, Nebraska–In February 2023, Ada was named a 2022 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to effective urban forest management. The community also received a Tree City USA Growth Award for demonstrating environmental improvement and an outstanding level of tree care. 

Honorees at 2023 annual Ada Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon

On March 15, the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Carol Slane Florist as the Business of the Year, Wynn Hauenstein was selected as the recipient of the Chris Burns-DiBiasio "Making A Difference" Award for his work on the chamber's Punt, Pass and Kick competition, and Hays Insurance was recognized for 40 years in business. April 1 Brunch with the Easter Bunny

On Saturday, April 1, the McGuffey Community Center on Courtright St. will host a Brunch with the Easter Bunny.

From 9:30-10:30 a.m. brunch will be served including french toast sticks, sausage, scrambled eggs, milk, orange juice or water. There is no charge to attend the event.

2023 Jefferson Awards will recognize unsung heroes

The 2023 Jefferson Awards Banquet will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at the City Club, 144 S. Main St., Lima, Ohio beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The national program recognizes the “unsung heroes” by awarding individuals who give their time and effort, on a volunteer basis, to improve their communities. The national program, founded in 1972, was brought to Lima in 2001.

Funeral arrangements for Susie Wright

Susie Wright, age 93, of Piqua, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the Koester Pavillion in Troy. 

She was born on October 16, 1929 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Douglas and Rebecca (Moore) Hicks who preceded her in death. On July 22, 1951 Susie married Wilkie Wright and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2018.

Ada Schools invite community to participate in Kindness and Inclusion month

Ada Exempted Village Schools recently announced:

We are excited for our upcoming Kindness and Inclusion month in April!

This year we are inviting the community and students to wear a kindness shirt, if you so choose, during our spirit week from Jordyn's Summer Shirt Project - Be Kind to Everyone!
