4th quarter Mustang charge downs AHS boys basketball

By Cort Reynolds

The Ada boys basketball team harbored an upset bid into the fourth period at backyard rival Allen East before a huge Mustang closing run carried the hosts to a 69-55 Northwest Conference victory Friday night at Harrod.

Ada fell to 5-5 overall and 0-3 in the NWC with their second loss to the Mustangs in eight days. Meanwhile, AE improved to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the NWC with the win.

"We were still only down four with six minutes left, and it got away from us," said second-year Ada head coach Vince Halliday. "We still turn it over too much and can't get stops or defensive rebounds when needed."

Two-for-one: Jan. 7 Hall of Honor and boys basketball events

A double-header of sorts is scheduled for Saturday, January 7, at the Ada schools. A boys basketball game will be preceeded by a reception in the cafeteria for the newest Hall of Honor inductee, Greg Grimslid.

AHS boys basketball hosts traditional backyard foe USV (6-3) Saturday night in a non-league bout. The Rams were idle Friday evening.

"It will be a tough game, they had Friday night off so they will be fresh and ready to roll," said Halliday of the annual Ram rivalry contest.

Winter Exploration Hike for Kids on January 16 at Litzenberg

FINDLAY--Since children will have a day off from school on Martin Luther King, Jr Day, January 16, it could be a great time for them to visit a park, hike a trail, and look for animals.

Litzenberg Memorial Woods, Gatehouse. 1:00 p.m.
Families with children ages 5 and up. Free; registration is not required.

Finding fresh or frozen animal tracks is a fun activity that provides a clue to the kind of animals being active during winter. Maybe the animals will be seen. That would be exciting for them.
