Gary L. Reed worked for Durez Corp.

Gary L. Reed, age 67, of Ada, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 7:46 a.m. at his residence.

He was born on May 15, 1955, in Lima, Ohio to the late Elvin and Betty J. (Rhoden) Reed.  Gary married Becky Lynn Burns-Reed on March 15, 1997, and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2014.

Gary retired from Durez Corp, where he worked as a lab technician.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served for fourteen years.   He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Bluffton and a member of the American Legion.

Hardin Co. Astronomy Club meets on Sept. 14

Hardin County Astronomy Club has announced the following meeting, which is open to the public:

  • 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14
  • Hardin County Courthouse Veterans Meeting Room

The program will be Astronomy Software, and the Constellation for this month is Perseus.  Sketches will be reviewed for Hercules and Lyra.

Tax levy proposal for Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance District Board

The Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance District Board will be hold an informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. on September 12 to discuss the proposed 2 mill property tax levy on the November ballot. 

The meeting will be held at 530 N. Gilbert St. Ada, OH 45810.

An online presentation in the Blanchard Valley Health System “Live & Learn” educational series will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, when a discussion will be held on compassionate specialty care.

Bulldog football at Bluffton Friday

Bluffton hosts rebuilding local rival Ada in week two of the Northwest 
Conference football schedule Friday night at Harmon Field.

The Pirates won big at home over Spencerville last Friday in their league opener, 54-35. The Bulldogs are 1-3 (0-1 NWC), while Bluffton enters the contest 2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Bluffton racked up 492 yards in offense, but also allowed 425 yards to the Bearcats. The Pirates rushed for a season-best 301 yards on 37 carries.

Harvest & Herb royalty court

Meet the 2022 Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Harvest and Herb Royalty Court, all Ada seniors, L-R:  Amelia Alexander, daughter of Robert and Shelleigh Alexander, Kaitlyn Bowden, daughter of Christina and Dan Bowden, Courtney Sumner, daughter of Jason and Jennifer Sumner.
