ONU announces employee service and retirement recognition

This spring Ohio Northern University recognized the following individuals for years of service and retirements.

Three individuals were recognized for a remarkable 45 years of service: Sherolyn Evans, Food Service; Christine Garver, Physical Plant and Gary Long, Pharmacy.

Ada Soccer Association signups underway

New website and Facebook will share additional information

Fall youth soccer registration opened online on June 1 and will continue through June 30, according to the Ada Soccer Association. Late registration will run from July 1 - 9, and a non-refundable fee will also be added at that time.

To register, you must have a certified copy of your child's birth certificate at the time of registration if this is their first time playing. Copies can be purchased at the county health department in which the child was born.

Coaches can also register when they register a child. Click the link that says "Register Team Staff/Volunteer."

AHS class of '72 gathers for 50th reunion

The Ada HS class of 1972 held its 50th reunion on Saturday, June 4, which was exactly fifty years to the day of the 1972 graduation. The reunion was held at the Inn at Ohio Northern University from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m.

In total, 32 of the living classmates were present for part or all of the event. One of the highlights was the attendance of three of the teachers that instructed the class members, Mr. Tom Dearth, Mr. Dale Madison, and Mr. Dick Lawrence along with their spouses.

Sidewalk and garage sales promotion July 7-8-9

A second look at a complex book

I reviewed this book once before, but felt the need to look again at this very complex novel. Some readers will not like it for its complexity and length. All I can say is that it’s worth the investment of time and thought it takes. I hope you give it a chance and become a fan of Doerr’s twists and turns. 

Pitcovich named OAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month for June

Ohio Northern senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Month for June.

Pitcovich has earned All-OAC status in track and field five times in her career, including four times this season. She placed second in the 5,000 meters and third in the 3,000 meters at the 2022 OAC Indoor Championships and had finishes of second and third in the 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters, respectively, at the 2022 OAC Outdoor Championships.

She closed her senior season by qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships meet where she placed 17th in the 10,000 meters.
