Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival returning to ONU campus, village park

Get ready to have a ball! The Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival is resuming this year with festivities planned for Saturday, Aug. 28, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Organizers from the Village of Ada, Ohio Northern University and the renowned local Wilson Football Factory have fun events planned for guests of all ages. The day's activities will kick off at 11 a.m. at Ohio Northern University's Dial-Roberson Stadium with an ONU football intersquad scrimmage. A Punt, Pass and Kick contest for youth ages 8 to 15 will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the stadium, with registration for four different age groups beginning at noon.

Coloring contest winners announced

Nine local children were announced as the winners of the Century 21 Sunway Realty coloring contest, according to Tami Waller, secretary.

Daniel Hicks served in the U.S. Army

Daniel B. Hicks, 91, Huron, OH, died Sunday, August 8, 2021, in Admiral’s Pointe, Huron.

He was born in Prestonsburg, KY on October 27, 1929 to the late Norman L. and Sadie (Shepherd) Hicks.

Daniel worked for 23 years at Superior Coach of Lima as a metal finisher. He retired in 1995 after working 13 years as a vocational educator at Delaware Joint Vocational School as an auto body instructor.

Noteworthy Community Choir performs on Aug. 14 and 15

Noteworthy Community Choir will perform at the Farmers & Merchants Picnic from 1 to 2 p.m. on Aug. 14, and again at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, at Grace Gospel Church in Ada.

From Jeepers Creepers, Million Dreams, God Bless the USA and many more, come enjoy an hour of choral selections, solos and duets! 

SweetNotes, the ladies' division of NCC, will perform several numbers to include Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and Girls Rock the 50's.

Since 2018, Noteworthy has served over 40 adults and children through rehearsals and community performances, workshops, and summer camps. 

Waters, Holbrook, Scott achieve rank

Local Scouts Robby Waters earned Life Scout, Jaden Holbrook earned Star Scout, and Josh Scott achieved Tenderfoot at Troop 124's Court of Honor on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021.

Grant to help 25 eligible ONU students pursue study-abroad dreams

For some, a $145 investment in their potential could literally mean the world. That's what Ohio Northern University is counting on for 25 first-year students who will receive scholarships this coming academic year to apply towards their U.S. passport application process for study-abroad experiences.
