Michael Milks receives Cardinal health Generations Rx Champions Award

Michael Milks, of Ada, is the 2012 recipient of the Cardinal health Generations Rx Champions Award for excellence in community-based prescription drug abuse prevention.

This award recognizes a pharmacist for his work in combating prescription drug abuse. The award honors a pharmacist who has demonstrated outstanding commitment within the pharmacy community to raise awareness of prescription drug abuse.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Milks has emphasized the importance of prescription drug abuse prevention to his students and to the community at large. He has made presentations at local Veterans of Foreign Wars meetings, conferences throughout the state and to student organizations on the campus of Ohio Northern University, where Milks teaches in the College of Pharmacy. Milks was also instrumental in establishing the Ohio Northern University AWARE program.

Milks received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Ohio Northern University in 1976 and a doctorate in pharmacology from The Ohio State University. He is currently a professor of pharmacology at Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy.
