Aaron Weyer, Alex Weber continue their football tradition at Ashland

Two Ada High School 2011 grads are continuing their football careers at Ashland University.

Aaron Weyer and Alex Weber graduated from Ada High in 2011. Both were recruited by Ashland University. 

Aaron Weyer
Weyer was a 4 year letter winner in high school.  Named 2nd team All Ohio in 2010, 1st team All State in 2009.  1st team All District in 2009 and 2010, NWC Defensive Player of the Year 2010, First Team All Conference 2010, and named to the Lima Land Dream Team.  His senior stats include 136 tackles, 11 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1intereception, and 19 tackles for loss.
    
Weyer wears number 49 and is a 3rd year sophomore, after being sidelined by an ACL injury last year.  He is 5-11 and 235 pounds. His parents are Bob Weyer and Shelly Benfield, both Bluffton High School graduates, and Ada residents.
    
Weyer is majoring in Exercise  and is a redshirt sophomore.

Alex Weber
Weber is a 3 time letter winner in high school. Named 1st team All Ohio 2010, 1st team all district and NWC High School single season record set with 1760 receiving yards, 23 Touchdowns, and 16 receptions. Weber was named to the Lima Land Dream Team.
    
Weber wears number 88 and is a junior at AU and plays wide receiver.
   
Weber is majoring in business, supply chain management. His parents are Carl and Marylou Weber of Ada.

The twowere coached in high school by Coach Micah Fell, who also attended Ashland University from 1979 to 1980. 

Ashland was the 2012 GLIAC Champions. This was the first championship in Ashland Football history.

The 2012 team was the second in AU history to record 10 or more wins, tying the 1972 team for the best season record. The Eagles ended the season ranked 4th in the country, which is the programs highest ranking since becoming part of the NCAA II.
   
Ashland were fifth in the nation in scoring defense, eighth in rush defense and ninth in total defense. They were sixth in pass efficiency, seventh in total offense and 19th in rush offense.
