Sam Slavik named assistant baseball coach at Ohio Northern

Sam Slavik has been named an assistant baseball coach at Ohio Northern University. He will be the pitching coach and also the head JV coach.

In the summer of 2013, Slavik was on the coaching staff for the Lima Locos of the Great Lakes Colliegate Baseball League. The Locos captured 2nd place in the league and finished with a 25-19 overall record.

Slavik spent the past two seasons on the staff at the University of Cincinnati. He served as the volunteer assistant coach and was heavily involved with the pitching staff. While at Cincinnati Sam was in charge of on campus recruiting, video analysis and other day to day operational needs of a colliegate baseball program.

in the summer of 2011 Slavik was the Head Coach of the Coldwater Jr. ACME team. His team was the runner up in the District of the Jr. ACME Tournamsent.

Sam earned a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Cincinnati in December of 2011.

Prior to his start in coaching, he was a four year member of the University of Cincinnati baseball team. Sam was a valued member of the Bearcats bullpen. In his 3 active seasons in relief, he accumulated 74.1 innings with 61 strikeouts while only allowing 24 walks. He had a 6-1 career record with a 4.25 ERA. Sam was a three time Big East All-Academic Team member. The Bearcats reached the Big East Conference Tournament all four years of his career and never finished below .500.

He is a graduate of Coldwater High School. He was a four year member of the football basketball and baseball team.

Slavik currently lives with his fiancé Allison Post and their dog, Layla.
