Monday night in downtown Ada: Halloween parade, soup-off, pumpkin hunt

The Ada Kiwanis Halloween parade is Monday. And there's lots more Halloween-related events downtown. Here's what's happening, when: 

Parade registration takes place behind the Municipal Building on Buckeye Street. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m. and the parade at 6 p.m.

Costume categories are:
• Prettiest
• Scariest
• Most original

Costume judging by age groups follow:
• Preschool and kindergarten
• First and second grades
• Third and fourth grades
• Fifth and sixth grades
• Groups – any age and pets
• Adults (most original only)
• Ada band

Other Monday evening activities:

• Buy Ada First cauldron cook-off
Ada depot – 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Stop by and sample a variety of soups from local restaurants and vote for your favorite soup.

Participants are:
• Jalapenos Mexican Grill, 109 S. Main St.
• Ada Express Mart, 602 N. Main St.
• ONU Sodexo dining services

•Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Pumpkin on Main Hunt
Pick up maps at the depot at 5 p.m.
Hunt takes place from 5 to 7 p.m.

The pumpkin hunt includes 15 pumpkins located in store windows or, if the business is open, the pumpkins are inside. All contestant entry forms go into a drawing for one grand prize.

Donations are appreciated for the cook off. All proceeds will benefit the Ada Food Pantry and ReStore.

ADA TRICK-OR-TREAT NIGHT THURSDAY, OCT. 31
The official night to trick-or-treat in Ada is Thursday, Oct. 31.

The Ada Public Library has activities going on that evening from 4:30-7 p.m. Those events are sponsored by the Friends of the Ada Public Library.

"Take a break from trick or treating and stop by the Ada Public Library for pizza, cookies, movies and fun! Prizes will be given for the best costumes! Tour the Zombie Research Laboratory!" said Amanda Bennett, library director.
