Hardin County Cattle Producers offer scholarships and royalty opportunities

The Hardin County Cattle Producers are offering up to five $500 scholarships to qualified students. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who themselves or their parents are current members of the Hardin County Cattle Producers, and have been members for at least the past two years.

The applicant must have shown a beef cattle project in either 4-H or FFA for at least three years. For an application, please contact the FFA Advisor or high school guidance counselor at any of the county schools. You can also download an application from hardin.osu.edu or pick one up at the OSU Extension Office located at 1021 West Lima Street, Suite 103 in Kenton.

Completed applications and transcripts are to be submitted to the Hardin County Extension Office by March 20. Questions regarding the scholarship process can be directed to Renee Hoffman at 740-361-5106.

The Hardin County Cattle Producers are also looking for 2014 Princess of Beef and Queen of Beef contestants. Eligible candidates for the title of Hardin County Princess of Beef must be age 12-15 as of January 1, 2014. In order to be eligible for Queen of Beef, the entrant must be 16-19 as of January 1, 2014.

Anyone qualified and interested can become Hardin County Princess of Beef or Queen of Beef, but only those who reside on a farm on which beef cattle are raised and is the daughter of parents now actively engaged in the production of beef will be eligible. If the parents are not engaged in the production of beef, the contestant must have a beef project in 4-H or FFA. Either the applicant themselves or their parents need to be members of the Hardin County Cattle Producers.

Contestants must complete an entry form to enter the contest, which are due March 11 to the Hardin County Extension office or sent by email to [email protected]. Questions regarding the Beef Royalty process can be directed to Holli Underwood at 419-674-4121.

The Hardin County Beef Banquet will be held March 22, starting at 6:00 pm in the Community Building at the fairgrounds.
