Hardin Democrats meet in Kenton March 12

The next meeting of the Hardin County Democratic Central and Executive Committees will be held Wednesday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Henry’s Restaurant, 995 North Detroit Street, Kenton. Committee members should enter the north doors and go to the loft area on the right. Those who would like to eat and order from the menu are invited to come at 6:00 pm. to dine together.

The Committees will review the Hardin County Democrats Presidents' Day Luncheon which was held last month with Robert L. Fry, candidate for the United States House of Representatives (Fifth Congressional District) as the keynote speaker.

Chair Don Traxler will ask the committees to consider the endorsement of a district-wide candidate as well as determining strategies for the primary and general elections. Traxler is also seeking persons who are interested in becoming County Coordinators for each of the statewide and district candidates. These persons do not have to be members of the Central or Executive Committees. They just need to be at least 18 years old on or before November 4, 2014, the date of this year's General Election. They must also commit to voting in the Democrat Primary at the Primary Election on May 6, 2014. If they are unable to come to this meeting, they can contact Traxler at 419-234-8506 via text or phone or [email protected].

Young voters are encouraged to become active in the party of their choice. Traxler would also like to remind all registered voters that the purpose of a primary election is for the political parties to nominate candidates from their parties to positions on the ballot in the general election. No candidate will be elected in this primary, they will only be nominated by the persons who vote in that party's primary. A voter may choose to vote a partisan ballot which will also include any issues submitted by various district or county entities. Voters who do not wish to vote in a party primary will be given an issues-only ballot. There will be three issues to be voted on by all Hardin County voters. Other specific precincts may have additional issues to be voted on by the electors in that specific location.

Absentee ballot requests are being accepted by the Hardin County Board of Elections. Voters can print their own applications by going to the Hardin County Board of Elections website, hardincountyelections.com or they may call the Board of Elections Office at 419-674-2211 to request that an application be mailed to them. Early/absentee balloting begins at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1 at the Board of Elections Office. Early/absentee ballots will be mailed to voters on this date for those applications that have been received prior to this date.

Other regular business will be conducted. Persons who subscribe to the principles of the Democratic Party are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting.
