University presents 'All-American' wind orchestra program

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the "All-American Program," featuring the Ohio Northern University Wind Orchestra, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25.

The Northern Winds, under the direction of Thomas A. Hunt, will perform works by George Gershwin, John Philip Sousa, Donald Grantham and others. Renowned composer Brant Karrick is the guest conductor. Karrick joined the faculty of Northern Kentucky University in fall 2003 as director of bands. His prior teaching experience includes nine years at the University of Toledo and seven years of public school teaching in Kentucky. At NKU, he administrates the entire band program, which includes the symphonic winds, the concert band and the basketball pep band. He also teaches classes in conducting, music education and marching band techniques and assists with student teacher supervision.

ONU student Ariana Ranieri, a freshman performance major from Loveland, Ohio, performs as the violin soloist in Eric Knechtges' "Mariana," which was commissioned by the Wind Orchestra for its tour.

Tickets for this event are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for ONU faculty and staff, and $5 for children and ONU students.
