UW-Oshkosh, ranked third in the country by D3football.com, advanced to the second round of the 32-team national championship following last Saturday's (Nov. 21) 48-0 home victory over The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.).

The Titans secured the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (WIAC) automatic berth into the NCAA's postseason tournament by claiming the ninth league title in program history.

UW-Oshkosh captured its second outright conference crown in four seasons by completing this year's league schedule with a 7-0 record.

UW-Oshkosh (10-1) has won 10 straight games since suffering a 23-21 setback to National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics member Robert Morris University (Ill.) on Sept. 5.

The Titans are competing in the NCAA Championship for the second time, with their only other appearance being in 2012 when they advanced to the semifinal round.

Ohio Northern University, which received one of seven at-large bids into the NCAA Championship, secured its spot in the second round with last Saturday's 27-22 road win over Franklin College (Ind.). The Polar Bears (9-2) kept their season alive by overcoming a 16-0 halftime deficit.

Ohio Northern University is in its fourth NCAA postseason appearance and first since 2010. The Polar Bears compiled a 7-2 league record to share second place in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) standings with Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio) and John Carroll University (Ohio). Top-ranked University of Mount Union (Ohio) won the OAC title with a 9-0 record.

The Polar Bears have won six straight contests since losing a 51-7 decision to the University of Mount Union on Oct. 10. Ohio Northern University also lost a 28-27 result to Baldwin Wallace University on Sept. 19.

The winner between UW-Oshkosh and Ohio Northern University will meet the victor of fifth-ranked UW-Whitewater (10-1) and sixth-ranked Wheaton College (Ill.) (11-0). UW-Whitewater, which finished second to UW-Oshkosh in the WIAC standings, received an at-large bid into the championship. Wheaton College gained automatic entry into the NCAA postseason by winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title.
