For one shining moment, the world came together - at ONU multicultural fair

Story and photos by Monty Siekerman

For one shining moment, the world came together...at a multicultural fair at ONU on Friday evening.

Here, Shishir Yadav (left) of Nepal and Aron Hagos of Eritrea stand before many colorful flags, the flags representing the 25 countries which ONU students call home.

Nepal suffered a devastating earthquake a year ago; Eritrea borders Ethiopia. Both students are in Ada to get advanced law degrees.

The fair drew several hundred faculty, staff, students, and townspeople to King-Horn for a taste of international food, a talent show, and booths telling of the cultures of various nations...you could even get your name written in Chinese.

The atmosphere was one of fun and happiness as well as pride in the different cultures, which were among the goals of the fair sponsored by United for Awareness Week.

This year's fair was moved from McIntosh to the gym since the event has become so popular.
