Dysert now an Arizona Cardinal - joins practice squad

Ada's Favorite Son is still in the NFL.

The Arizona Cardinals signed quarterback Zac Dysert to its practice squad this week. Dysert was in training camp with the Miami Dolphins this year before being released in the final roster cuts earlier this month. The Cardinals are going with two quarterbacks on the active roster - Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton - after releasing Matt Barkley.

Here’s a summary of Dysert’s NFL career to date:

Denver Broncos
Dysert was a quarterback prospect for the 2013 NFL Draft. The Denver Broncos drafted him in the seventh round, 234th overall, and the ninth quarterback. He earned a spot on the Broncos' 53-man roster as a backup to Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. For the 2014 season, Dysert remained a member of the Broncos' practice squad. In the 2015 preseason, he was cut.

Chicago Bears
On Sept. 1, 2015, the Chicago Bears claimed him. The Bears waived him on Sept. 6. Chicago Bears backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen had a concussion and the team made a move to give them some more help at the position.

Houston Texans
Dysert was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans on Sept. 8, 2015, and added to their practice team. The Texans signed Dysert to their practice squad one day after placing quarterback Tom Savage on injured reserve with a severely sprained shoulder. On Nov. 24, he was released from the Texans.

Buffalo Bills
Dysert was signed to the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 21, 2015.

Miami Dolphins
Dysert signed to the Dolphins Jan. 19, 2016. The move came about as the Dolphins chose former Denver assistant coach Adam Gase as its new head coach. Gase worked with Dysert in Denver. In September 2016 the Dolphins released Dysert in a move to reduce the size of the team to the regular season limit. Within the week he was picked up by Arizona.
