Ada High School Marching Band Earns Excellent Rating at OMEA State Marching Band Contest

The Ada High School Marching Band earned an Excellent rating at the OMEA Marching Band Contest held Nov. 4 at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium in Brunswick, with their Toy Story themed show "To Infinity." 

The production tells the story of galactic space ranger Buzz Lightyear, and takes the audience "To Infinity and Beyond" with selections such "You've Got a Friend in Me" and Frank Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me," as well as original compositions by director Jonathan Lischak. 

The marching band is currently at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, participating in the Bands of America Grand National Championship Nov 10-12. 

They performed at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday.

The Bands of America Grand National Championships is recognized as the premier marching band event in the nation. More than 90 bands from across America compete, including some of the finest, most progressive bands. 

The 2016 field competition feature 90 bands in preliminary competition on Thursday and Friday, with up to 36 bands advancing to semi-finals during the day on Saturday. Twelve bands advance to finals on Saturday evening.  

Performing in their finalmarching band competition are seniors: Josie Boehm, Eli Garman, Hailey Maier, Meredith Marshall, Libbie Milks, Meredith Morgan and Evan Smittle. 

The Ada Marching Band is under the direction of Director Jonathan Lischak and Color Guard Director Amy Webb.
