There are two replacement levies, one for 1.5 mills and one for 1 mill, on Tuesday's ballot for the Ada War Memorial Park.
Both levies replace those approved by voters in the 1970s. Since then, inflation has cut into what can be accomplished with the property tax income that was generated by the expiring levies.
"The budget has been very tight the last few years," commented Tony Wolke, long-time park board member. "We hope the voters approve both of the five-year levies."
The levies will help with labor costs, utilities, and maintenance. A new shelter house may be built to replace one that is old and has been used by many people over the years.
The levies are on the ballots of those who vote in the village precincts as well as those who live in Liberty Township.
Ada North Precinct Issues
Residents of Ada North Precinct will vote on a proposal to allow Ada Express Mart to sell wine and mixed beverages, including Sunday sales. They now sell beer.
A "Yes" vote on Issues 4 and 5 would permit the carry out/grocery store to sell wine and mixed beverages. Sunday sales would be permitted between 11 a.m. and midnight.
Mixed beverages are defined as grocery store low-proof cordials and hard ciders.
Ada Express Mart, also known locally as Marathon, is part of Automated Petroleum, Inc, headquartered in Upper Sandusky. They opened the Ada store 15 years ago at SR 235 and SR 81.
In a letter from the company to Ada North residents, they state, "Our store needs wine sales to succeed and compete with other retailers."
