Raise your hand if you know the answer to this ecology question

The day COSi came to Ada

By Monty Siekerman
COSi puts the fun into learning, as demonstrated to 400 children in grades K-5 at Ada Schools on Thursday.  The outdoors came inside during the Center of Science and Industry interactive program about ecology.

Here, students raise their hands knowing the answer to the question asked by the instructor.

Exploring Ecology is one of six COSI outreach programs. The assembly in Ada taught about ecosystems, tree rings, and animal adaptations.

The program is supported by the Ohio Environmental Education Fund and locally sponsored by the Ada Academic Boosters. COSI, from Columbus, reaches about 300,000 students annually.

• Learning about waterfowl.
• "Who wants a duck?" "I do,I do," say the kids.
• Sam Williams helps demonstrate how wind helps pollinate plants. A giant fan and pieces of colored paper aided in the visual explanation.
• Blake Zolads dresses as a bumblebee to demonstrate insect pollination.
• 400 Ada youngsters were enthralled by the COSI demonstration.
