Arlington tops Ada boys

ARLINGTON - Host Arlington built an 11-point halftime lead and made it stand up for a 56-43 non-league boys basketball win over Ada Tuesday night.

The loss dropped the Bulldog record to 3-11, while the Red Devils improved to 5-8.

Arlington post Logan Speyer sank all 10 of his free throw attempts as he tallied game-high totals of 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Bulldog senior Owen Conley scored 18 points and snagged eight rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

The Devils led 31-20 at halftime. Ada stayed within striking distance in the second half as they were outscored just 25-23.

Arlington sank 19 of 53 from the field and six of 20 beyond the arc. The victors canned 12 of 14 free throws.

The Bulldogs shot a solid 18 of 39 from the floor, but converted only five of 12 at the charity stripe and hit on two of eight from three-point land.

Arlington out-rebounded the Bulldogs, 32-22. Ada committed 21 turnovers to 11 miscues by the Devils.

Ada (0-4 NWC) visits local rival Allen East in a Northwest Conference battle Fridaynight. First-year Ada head coach Dre White served as an assistant at AE the past two seasons.

The Mustangs (7-6, 0-4 NWC) are coming off a 70-60 win at Ottoville Tuesday night. Ada is 1-6 on the road while AE is 3-3 at home.

The Mustangs defeated Arlington 59-55 in the Bluffton Holiday tournament. As for their other common opponents, Ada and AE each defeated Ridgemont while both have lost to USV, Perry, Paulding and Spencerville
