Women’s basketball: Baldwin Wallace fall to ONU

BEREA — Senior Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee) scored 22 points and junior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) added 14 points to lead the No. 10/14 ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 60-55 road victory at Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night at Ursprung Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears continue their best start in school history and remain undefeated at 14-0 on the season. They maintain their 2-game lead in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 7-0 league record.

The Yellow Jackets fall to 11-3, 4-3.

Northern led 14-7 after the first period and grabbed the largest lead of the game at 21-11 with 7:35 left in the half.

But BWU battled back to within 28-25 by intermission.

The Yellow Jackets scored the first four points of the third quarter to grab a 29-28 lead, but ONU rallied to take a 43-41 lead entering the final period.

Neither team led by more than three points until Lauck drilled a 3-pointer with 42 second left to put Ohio Northern up 56-52.

Junior Lindsey Black (Urbana/Graham) hade a pair of free throws with 18 second left to put ONU ahead 58-52 and she made two more with six seconds left to ice the game.

Northern made 21-of-48 field goal attempts for 43.8 percent and was 5-10 from 3-point range for 50 percent.

Baldwin Wallace was 19-of-54 from the floor for 35.2 percent and made 8-of-20 3-pointers for 40 percent.

ONU out-rebounded BWU 33-29.

The Polar Bears will return home on Saturday for a 3 pm contest against Muskingum at the ONU Sports Center.
