No more floods!
By Monty Siekerman
The Ream Street storm sewer project is nearly halfway complete. This photo shows work being carried out at the intersection of Simon and Lehr.
Another project, paving a portion of Eric Wolber Avenue, will begin March 13.
A portion of the far east side of the village occasionally would flood during a deluge. Thus, a storm sewer project is being undertaken to remedy the situation.
A small, old, clay tile is being replaced with a large 36-inch tile placed 12 feet deep.
Zee Contractors, Holland, Ohio, is doing the work for $347,000 with 80 percent paid by the state.
The sewer will run along Ream from Lincoln to Lehr, then west on Lehr to Simon, then south on Simon to University.
Eric Wolber Avenue will be reconstructed on the east side of Associated Plastics in Grass Run Industrial Park. Hohenbrink Excavating of Ottawa was awarded the contract for $260,000 with 88 percent being paid by the state.
