ONU spring sports return to winning

As ONU athletic teams near the end of their spring trips, the Polar Bears, for the most part, returned to their winning ways. Here's a run down on the latest from South Carolina and Florida.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team posted its third consecutive victory as it defeated Albion (Mich.) Thursday morning at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The Polar Bears improve to 11-2 overall, while the Britons fall to 3-4 overall.

Ada's Mackenzie Wills won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and won at doubles.

CLERMONT, Fla. — Junior Anna Martin (Huntsburg/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) had a game-high three hits as she led the Ohio Northern softball team in a 5-1 victory over Misericordia (Pa.) Thursday afternoon at the Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.

The Polar Bears move to 6-1 overall, while the Cougars fall to 2-6.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — Its its final contest in Hilton Head Island, S.C., the Ohio Northern men's tennis team posted a convincing 9-0 shutout over Albion (Mich.).

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell 18-0 to Marymount (Va.) in its final contest of the Spring Fling Tournament in Port Charlotte, Fla. on Thursday afternoon.

The Polar Bears fall to 1-3 overall, while the Saints improve to 3-1.

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Ohio Northern men's golf team fell to Thomas More (Ky.) 6.25-4.25 in the Atlantic Ocean Classic, a Ryder Cup-style match on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Harbor Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (23-28-1 overall) and the Saints tied Wednesday's singles competitions by a 3-3 score.

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Ohio Northern women's golf team won the Atlantic Ocean Classic, a Ryder Cup-style match with Thomas More (Ky.), by a tiebreaker Tuesday and Wednesday at the Harbor Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (14-20 overall) and the Saints tied at 6.25-6.25, but ONU took the tiebreaker by winning the front 9 singles competition on Wednesday
