ONU Track/Field Invitational set for Saturday

The No. 9-ranked Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team is set to celebrate Senior Day on Saturday morning at the annual Polar Bear Invitational at Kerscher Stadium.

Prior to competition, Northern will recognize seniors Rebecca Carman, Kelsey Commager, Meagan Ellinger, Allie Gast, Paige Giessler, Nicole Huber, Renee Kraft, Genevieve Marchese, Elizabeth Martin, Joanna Messerly, Michelle Mosler, Rebecca Olashuk and Kendra Paul.

Northern is coming off of a second place finish at the All-Ohio Championships ... Three schools records fell for the Polar Bears at the meet. 

 Olashuk posted a second place finish in the hammer throw and set a new school record with a toss of 159' 7.00" ... The senior's throw currently ranks in the top-30 nationally. 

In the 100-meter dash, freshman Taylor Lavey finished third overall, setting a new school record with a time of :12.36.

For the second consecutive week, sophomore Maddy Reed set the pole vault record, clearing 12' 10.25" ... The sophomore set the All-Ohio meet record in the event and currently has the third best jump nationally ... Commager posted a first place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 37" 7.25".

In the javelin throw, Paul took second place with a throw of 119'.

Junior Emily Richards completed the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week sweep in Div. III after earning the honor for the second time during this outdoor season ... Richards ran the fastest time in Div. III history in the 800-meter run at the Mt. Sac Relays, claiming first place in the event in 2:02.34 ... She would turn around and compete in the Beach Invitational the following day, where she won the 1,500-meter run and ran the sixth fastest time in Div. III history in the event, finishing in 4:21.19 ... Both of Richards' times are the fastest time nationally among Div. III athletes and are both new school records.

Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 8th season at ONU with a 301-137-3 outdoor record, a winning percentage of .686.
