HOBY makes Ada a habit
By Monty Siekerman
Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) returned to Ada last week.
HOBY kids learned about community service on Saturday when they assisted in Ada and nearby towns.
Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) is a four-day leadership seminar for 208 high school sophomores from northern and western Ohio that is held each year on campus.
The HOBY program inspires students to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their homes, schools, workplaces and communities.
This year groups of students not only helped trim trees, but also collected food for the Ada Food Pantry and assisted at the new Ada water treatment plant.
Saturday's activities included landscaping at Memorial Park and washing cars, as well as assisting with trimming trees along South Johnson.
Teams of HOBY youth also worked in Bluffton, Lima, Findlay and Kenton.
