Ohio Northern University to hold 12th annual ‘Robby’ golf outing

The Ohio Northern University Office of Alumni Affairs will hold the 12th annual Robby Golf Classic at Colonial Golfers Club in Harrod, on Sunday, June 3, at noon.

Registration starts at 11 a.m. The $125 registration fee for individuals includes 18 holes of golf, dinner, program and giveaways. Participants can register as teams, pairs or individuals. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

In its 12th year, the Robby Classic is a fundraiser for The Robby Scholarship Fund, named for William Robinson, a 1961 graduate of Ohio Northern who has spent more than 50 years with the University.

Darrell E. Kent, 77, died at 1:01 a.m. May 14, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Uniopolis to Russell and Dorothy Miller Kent, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 7, 1955, he married D. Jacqueline Sampson, who survives in Ada.

Polar Bears advance to NCAA III Softball World Series with 7-5 victory over Trine

Senior Cassie Gaye drilled a 3-run home run and sophomore Dani Steepe was outstanding in the circle to lead No. 25 Ohio Northern past No. 16 Trine (Ind.) 7-5 in the championship game of the NCAA III Regionals Monday morning at Scots Field.
The second-seeded Polar Bears advance to the NCAA Division III World Series with a 31-12 record, while the top-seeded Thunder ends its season at 40-10.

ONU will play No. 3-ranked Linfield (Ore.) in the first round of the World Series Friday at 10 am in Salem, Va.

Gaye blasted a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to stake the Polar Bears to a quick 3-0 lead.
