Ada runs at Bath

By Cort Reynolds

LIMA BATH - The Ada cross country teams competed in another warm meet at the Bath Invitational Tuesday evening.

"It is meets like this that remind me that cross country is probably the friendliest sport around," said coach Josh Klein. "Our times were a direct result of the heat. It is a really cool experience to see fellow coaches, crowd members, and other athletes rally around one another when someone was struggling, or simply walking because they were overheated."

"I could not be happier with my team, for their display of sportsmanship and the camaraderie they showed towards other athletes during the race. From a simple pat on the back to keep going, or cheering from the side of the course, I was proud to say these kids represented the Bulldog community."

A few Ada team members - Reece Evans, Hunter Wells, Paige Cole and Abbie James - ran successfully at Bath and dropped their times from Saturday at Van Wert.

Sophomore Abbie James recorded her seasonal best time of 23:09 over the 3.1-mile course.

Ada boys times from Tuesday at Bath:

Reece Evans: 20:00

Michael Crouse 20:53

Hunter Wells 21:21

Jacob Morgan 22:57

Ian Dellifield 29:18

Ada girls:

Abbie James 23:09

Courtney "Coco" McLaughlin 26:25

Alexis Ennis 27:37

Paige Cole 30:01

Nora Dellifield 32:06

Dani Waugh 34:14

Ada runs next on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Kalida Invitational.

"There is a big sigh of relief from the team for a break in the weather, and they are very much looking forward to Saturday's meet in 60 degree weather," said Klein.

"On the other hand I jokingly said, they are going to be too cold and won't know how to run without the heat!"
