Joel W Hauenstein, 1981 - 2017

Joel W. Hauenstein, age 36, died on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 4:00 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System. 

He was born on October 6, 1981 in Coldwater, Michigan to Wynn L. and Colene S. (Wiseley) Hauenstein who survive in Ada. 

Joel was the owner of Image One High-Performance Art and was a Project Estimator for Colonial Surface Solutions of Columbus Grove. He was a 2000 graduate of Ada High School and he received his bachelor's degree in 2005 from Bowling Green State University. Joel enjoyed designing, fabricating and painting custom motorcycles. He was the founder and organizer of R4YL three day Midwest motorcycle run. He was the guitarist for "Bad Luck & Trouble" band. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ada. 

Joel received recognition as a content contributor for The Horse BackStreet Choppers, national publication. Two of his custom bikes were featured on the front cover of The Horse BackStreet Choppers. He was the featured artist at "Fuel Cleveland" regional exhibition, sponsored by Low-Brow Customs. He was one of ten custom-builders at nation-wide motorcycle show that was sponsored by The Horse. His latest custom-built bike is to be featured in November 2017 Hot Bike Mag. His was one of forty featured motorcycles and he was one of ten featured artists at the international Harley-Davidson Show that was held at Cobo Arena, Detroit. His was one of ten featured custom-built motorcycles at the "Smoke Out" in Rockingham, NC. Joel had been invited to the LA International (a show with over twenty thousand bikes) as the featured builder in July 2018. 

Joel is also survived by his sister, Deidre (Andrew) Allman of Grandview Heights, Ohio. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Cloyce and Emilie Hauenstein; and his maternal grandparents: Richard and Olive Wiseley. 

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 19, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Brandi Grant-Rigsby and Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. 

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ada VFW Post #9381, 2147 State Route 235, Ada, Ohio 45810.
