Williams gains another honor

Sophomore Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) has been named to the D3Football.comTeam of the Week for his efforts in Ohio Northern's 51-21 victory over Capital on Oct. 7.

Williams broke ONU's 17-year old single game rushing record, compiling 407 yards on 29 rushes.

The sophomore also added three touchdowns in the victory as he broke Ohio Northern Hall of Famer Jamal Robertson's previous single game record of 307 rushing yards.

Williams also caught one pass for five yards for a total of 412 all-purpose yards, breaking Robertson's single game record of 406 yards also set in 2000.

He was also named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

This season, Williams leads the OAC and is ranked sixth nationally with 873 yards rushing. He also jumpred from 17th to 10th on ONU's all-time career rushing list and now has 2,081 rushing yards in just 14 games as a Polar Bear.

Northern will return to action on Saturday afternoon as it travels to John Carroll to take on the Blue Streaks at 1:30 pm in Don Shula Stadium.
