Chloe's Tech Tips

Does this drab winter weather make you dread going out? Wish you could stay at home and cuddle up with a good book? Thanks to Libby, an ebook/audiobook app, you can checkout and read or listen to library books from the comfort of home!

Ready to give it a try? Follow these instructions:

1.) On your device, open the app store and search for "Libby" (Android users
- Google Play Store; Apple users - App Store; it is unavailable for Kindle
users at this point)

2.) Tap on "Libby, by Overdrive" and install it to your device.

3.) When the installation is complete, open the Libby app. You should see a
screen that says "Meet Libby" - tap the blue "Hi!" button in the center. Then
scroll down and tap the "Find My Library" button. Based on your location, the
app will try to find your local library.

4.) If it found the correct library, tap "Yes." Otherwise, tap "No" and
select "No, I'll search for a Library." Enter your library's name, city or
zip code into the search box. Tap on your library when it appears.

5.) At the top of the screen, it should say "Welcome to your digital library!
Do you have a library card?" Tap "Yes."

6.) Tap on the drop-down list and find your library (luckily, Ada Public
Library is the top result!) Enter your card number and library PIN number
(the last 4 digits of the phone number you gave the library when you signed
up for a card). Then tap "Sign In"

7.) Once you've successfully added your card, you will see the main page of
Libby. From here, you can search the catalog and view popular collections.
Once you've found an ebook or audiobook you'd like to check out, tap the
"Place Hold" or "Borrow" button. (Just like a regular library book, the
digital library only has so many copies of each item and you may have to
place a hold on new or popular ebooks or audiobooks.)

8.) The ebook/audiobook will download, and will be ready to read from your
"Shelf" in the bottom right - Just tap and go!

Have fun reading!
