ArtSpace/Lima Spring Show opening April 20

ArtSpace/Lima, 65-67 Town Square, Lima, will host an opening reception for Spring Show 2018 on Friday, April 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  The reception is free and open to the public, according to Bill Sullivan, director.

Spring Show 2018 is the 63rd  edition of ArtSpace’s signature exhibit. Entries are accepted from within a 100-mile radius of Lima in the following categories:  painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, digital art and mixed media.

Entries juried in will be displayed in the Ellen Nelson Gallery.  Additional works, not selected in the first round of jurying, but re-juried, will be on display in the Salon des refusés in ArtZone.

A total of 50 artists are represented in the exhibit:  66 works will be in the Ellen Nelson Gallery; 31 additional works will be in ArtZone in the Salon des refusés.

Awards totaling over $1,800 will be presented at 7:15 p.m.  Awards include the Jack Earl Award for Best of Show, First, Second and Third Awards, the Martha Farmer Award for Sculpture, the Bruce Chesser Award for Ceramics,

The Photography Club Award for Photography, the Martha Gaustad Award for Drawing, and the Award for Painting.

Jurors for the Spring Show 2018 exhibit are: Phillip Sugden, Professor of Art, Bluffton University, and Jordan Knepper, Executive Director, Piqua Arts Council.

In a show of cooperation between Lima’s arts organizations, attendees at the Lima Symphony Orchestra’s April 14 concert, Music is Life, will be able to preview some pieces from Spring Show 2018.

The featured music at that concert will be Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, so the joint venture seems especially appropriate.
