Lady Bulldogs bomb HN

DOLA - The visiting Ada softball team rallied from an early deficit to blast county rival Hardin Northern 17-4 Wednesday evening in a non-league makeup game.

 

Ada improved to 8-2 this season with their seventh win in eight games.

 

The Lady Bulldogs trailed 3-0 after two innings. But Ada plated five in the third to take the lead for good, then added three scores in the fourth to build an 8-4 lead.

 

The Bulldogs then broke it open with two runs in the fifth frame and a whopping seven-run outburst in the sixth.

 

Senior catcher Sydney Newland led the 14-hit Ada attack with six runs batted in. She doubled twice, singled and scored three runs.

 

Senior third sacker Maddie Gossard contributed a double, two singles, four RBI and three runs.

 

Senior shortstop Olivia Alexander scored four runs, had two hits and drove in a run.

 

Senior outfielder Kaiti Newland collected a two-run triple and scored a run. Senior outfielder Teara Coulson slapped two hits and scored three times.

 

Junior outfielder Alexis Ennis knocked out two hits and plated a run. Junior infielder Raina England singled and scored once.

 

Senior Nicki Lehsten and sophomore Sidney Gossard each scored a run. Freshman Brenna George added a run as well.

 

Freshman Leona Dalton earned her sixth pitching win as she scattered five hits and three walks over four innings. She struck out three and gave up just one earned run.

 

Southpaw Kaiti Newland relieved and pitched two scoreless frames to finsih it off. She allowed two hits and struck out one. The game was called after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Ada (3-0 NWC, 6-2 road) plays at struggling but dangerous perennial power Crestview (5-7, 1-2 NWC) Thursday at 5 p.m.

 

The Lady Knights lost 9-2 to Wayne Trace Wednesday night.
