Lady Bulldogs whip rival Rams

By Cort Reynolds

McGUFFEY - The visiting Ada softball team held local arch-rival USV to one hit and rolled over the Rams 13-1 on a warm but windy Friday evening.

Ada improved to 7-2 with their sixth victory in the last seven games. The Rams fell to 0-4 with the defeat.

The purple and gold plated five runs in each of the first and second innings, then added one in the third to build an insurmountable 11-0 cushion.

Two more Bulldog runs in the top of the fourth frame extended the margin to 13-0. USV tallied an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth without a hit.

Winning pitcher Maddie Gossard drove in a pair of runs, scored twice and had one hit. She hurled the first four innings without allowing a hit or an earned run. She struck out four and walked three Rams to move her record to 1-0.

Senior shortstop Olivia Alexander collected three hits, two runs and two runs batted in to ignite the Lady Bulldog offense from her leadoff spot.

Senior outfielder Teara Coulson contributed two hits and scored twice. Senior catcher Sydney Newland smacked a hit, scored twice and drove in a run.

Sophomore Sidney Gossard amassed a hit, scored a run and drove in one. Senior Nicki Lehsten compiled a hit and a run scored.

Senior outfielder Kaiti Newland added a hit and scored two runs. Junior outfielder Alexis Ennis added a hit and classmate infielder Raina England tallied a run.

The Lady Bulldogs out-hit USV, 11-1. Southpaw Kaiti Newland relieved Gossard to pitch the fifth and final shutout inning, and gave up the lone Ram hit. She also struck out one and walked none in her lone inning.
