Ada Historical Society invite you to be a member

By Monty Siekerman
The first ever Ada Historical Society dinner and membership drive will be held on Monday, May 7. Those who join that evening will be charter members of the organization.

There will be an open reception from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Railroad Depot.

“We look forward to meeting you and having an opportunity to introduce our group and goals,” said President Rhett Grant. “If you have an interesting piece of your history that you would like to share, bring your stories and photos as we would love to see and hear them.” There will be several historical displays to be viewed at the reception.

“The reception is open to the public and we hope that after attending you will want to join us in our journey of preserving Ada history,” he said.

Membership is open to anyone. Dues are $10 for an individual or $15 for a family.

After the reception, those who wish will go to nearby Viva Maria's for dinner. “Anyone is welcome to join us there and continue the conversation,” he said.

Community members have been meeting monthly since last fall to organize the Society. Officers have been chosen and several projects discussed.

Charter officers are:
• Rhett Grant, president
• Kathleen Anspach, vice president
• Jon Umphress, secretary
• Joe Ferguson, treasurer
Additional board members:
• Paul Logsdon
• Lee Crouse
• Ruth Roider
