By Cort Reynolds

SPENCERVILLE - The Ada boys finished a strong fourth and the Lady Bulldogs came in seventh out of nine teams at the two-day Northwest Conference track and field meet in Spencerville Thursday and Saturday.

Columbus Grove swept to both the boys and girls NWC team titles, winning a tight three-team race in the male standings.

The Grove boys narrowly out-pointed Bluffton 111-107 to win the conference crown. Lincolnview was a very close third at 106.5 points, followed by Ada in fourth (96). Allen East was seventh with 36 points.

CG far out-distanced host Spencerville, 202.5-112.5, to win the girls event going away. Lincolnview was third with 90 points. Ada tallied 30.5 to finish just ahead of eighth-place Allen East (24).

Junior Noah Mattson won the shot put title to pace the Ada boys on the first day of competition. He also took second in the discus Saturday to tally 18 individual points.

Bulldog junior Miguel Jordan won the 800 meter race Saturday.
