Suspicious package investigated at courthouse annex
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a county office receiving a suspicious package. At 11:30 a.m. this morning, Sheriff’s Office received a report from Hardin County Job and Family Services that they had received a suspicious package through the US mail service
Investigators arrived on scene along with members from the Kenton Fire Department. It was determined that the building would be evacuated for the safety of the employees and public until the package and area could be rendered safe.
After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the package was safe and there was no threat to anyone’s safety. The courthouse annex building was reopened at 3:30 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kenton Fire Department, Allen County Regional Haz-Mat Unit, The Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification and Ohio Northern University.
