So many F&M photos - and here's just the start

Photos by Monty Siekerman

The Ada icon loves to post photos and the Farmers and Merchants Picnic is one of our favorite events to shoot.

Monty Siekerman and Ken Collins photographered practically everything that moved on Saturday. We are going to share dozens of photos with viewers - and we will spread them out all week.

So, don't go away. Here's the start of the show.

Here there are, Mr and Mrs. F&M Picnic

They play a huge part of the F&M Picnic

By Monty Siekerman
Here they are, Mr. and Mrs. F & M Picnic, for many years now. Kenny Wolke, longtime Ada War Memorial Park superintendent, and his wife, Eva, have a lot to do with the success of the annual festival, not for all of its 104 years of existence, but for several decades. Kenny explains some of what it takes to prepare for the multi event extravaganza.

There are tents to be put up, many picnic tables and benches to be moved, roping off areas for parking which were athletic fields the day before, acres of grass to be mowed, trimming done, sticks and trash to be picked up, vendors and food trucks to be directed..the list is long.

Mike Hawk shows how it's done

Here's Mike Hawk, Ada, pulling in his John Deere 40-20. Monty Siekerman took this photo at the F&M Picnic tractor pull. Watch the Icon all week for lots of photos.

What a weekend in Ada!

Perfect day for 104th Farmers and Merchants Picnic

By Monty Siekerman
Gas may have jumped to $2.45 in Ada, but it's the price of feed that matters to these Renegade Equestrian Drill Team riders, by far the most popular entry in the 104th Farmers and Merchants Picnic parade on Saturday morning.

The drill team from Belle Center received hoots and hollers from the bystanders in their first appearance here. Samantha Mattevi is team captain. You'll find her working here in Ada at Tavern 101 and Bass Trucking.

The day turned out perfect compared to last year's gully washers which put a stop to festivities. Rain for F&M and Harvest and Herb Fest has been rare.
