5th Annual Chocolate Bake-off

FREE DIETSCH's CHOCOLATE!

Now that we have your attention: We'd like to announce that it's time for the Ada Public Library's 5th Annual Chocolate Bake-off

The rules are this simple--there's only 1 rule:
Bake or make something that showcases chocolate as the main ingredient, and bring it to the Library on Thursday, February 9th, by 5:00p.m. The event is FREE and open to all--come and enjoy sampling a variety of desserts, and opens to the public at 6p.m.!

The winner will be decided by popular choice, with the 1st Place Winner taking home 1lb of Dietsch's Chocolates!

BBQ meal supports prom

The Ada Junior Class is selling Harlen's BBQ chicken tickets for $8 to raise money for the prom. The meals can be picked up between 5-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17,  at the 86 gym. Tickets may be purchased from junior class members or at the high school office.

Freshman gains wrestling honors

Freshman Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 29-Feb.4.

Barcaskey went 2-0 on the week in two OAC duals and finished sixth overall at the John Summa Invitational at Baldwin Wallace in the heavyweight division.

In ONU's (10-3 overall, 3-1 OAC) dual against Otterbein, Barcaskey pinned his OC counterpart in 2:47 to lead the Polar Bears in a 30-9 victory.

The freshman would pick up a 5-2 decision in the heavy weight to cap off the night as Northern took on No. 9-ranked Baldwin Wallace.

Richards named Athlete of the Week

Junior Emily Richards(Delaware/Hayes) earned her third consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 4.

Richards helped the Polar Bears (30-6 overall) to a first place finish at the annual ONU Joe Banks Invitational on Saturdayafternoon.

The junior posted another record-setting day, as she broke her own 800-meter run school record for the second consecutive week and ran the sixth fastest time in Div. III history in the event.

Richards finished second overall in the event in 2:08.83 behind 2016 Div. II 800-meter run National Champion Carsyn Koch in what proved to be an exciting finish.

Allen, Player of the Week

Senior Devon Allen (Lima/Senior) has been named the men's basketball Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 4.

Allen helped Ohio Northern (14-7 overall, 12-2 OAC) to its eighth and ninth straight victories last week.

Northern will look to keep its winning streak alive Wednesday evening as it welcomes Heidelberg to the ONU Sports Center for a 7pm  tipoff

ONU students, faculty talk at professional meeting

ONU technical studies students Brady Schulte, a senior manufacturing technology major from Ottawa, and Eric Radford, a senior construction management major from Upper Sandusky, presented their research findings “Energy Conservation Audit of a Technology Program” at the annual Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) conference in Orlando, Fla. 

Paul Nutter, chair of the department, presented “Survey of Digital Manufacturing and Simulation Curriculum Effectiveness for Manufacturing Technology Alumni.” He also served as master of ceremonies for the ATMAE robotics competition
