A baseball memorial

Laid out at high school park diamond for Alex

A baseball memorial for 2020 Ada senior pitcher Alex Sweigart was laid out at the high school park diamond Wednesday.

On display were baseballs signed by parents and friends on the mound and at home plate, a pair of his shoes, a wreath and a sign on the chain link backstop.

Next Ada blood drive July 20

Ada's next American Red Cross blood drive is from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, July 20, in the Community Health Professionals Ada Visiting Nurses conference room, 1200 S. Main St.

Here's Alger Public Library holiday hours

Alger Public Library Fourth of July holiday update: The library staff will be offline and curbside and appointment services will be closed Friday, July 3.

Patrons still have access to access the library website and online resources. The library will be back for curbside and appointments on Monday, July 6, from noon to 5 p.m. Seniors and at risk may call 419-757-7755 for the library's special hours.

Another ONU all-American athlete scholar

Ohio Northern senior Taylor Daniel (Columbia City, Ind.) was named a All-American Scholar for 2019-20 by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

Daniel is now a three-time WGCA All-American Scholar and is a three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree.

She is currently ranked 20th all-time in ONU women's golf history with a 95.02 stroke average for 48 career rounds.

The WGCA honored 1,401 women's collegiate golfers with this honor, which carried a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
