By Cort Reynolds
ADA - Visiting Crestview ran out to a 15-2 lead and went on to defeat Ada 51-17 in Northwest Conference girls basketball action Thursday night.

The purple and gold girls fell to 1-14 and 0-4 in the NWC with the loss, while the Lady Knights improved to 8-5 and 3-2 in league play after the win.
Utilizing a fullcourt press, Crestview outscored Ada 15-2 in each of the first two periods to build an insurmountable lead.

"Defensively I was proud of the way we played collectively," said first-year Bulldog head coach Morgan Bass. "It was probably our best defensive game. We are looking a lot better in our 2-3 zone, but we still struggle to score.

"Poling had a good game and Megan Light stepped up. Crestview is a good team and they pressured us," she added.

The Lady Knights scored the first 12 points of the game, capped by a driving layup from sophomore guard Olivia Cunningham, and were never threatened.
Ada got on the scoreboard when freshman guard Kirsten Poling drained a right side 18-footer with 45 seconds left in the opening stanza.

But Cunningham answered by draining a triple from the top of the key to give the Knights a 15-2 bulge after one period.

Kaylee Wolford tallied a putback layup to start the second quarter for the visitors. Lauryn Black splashed an 18-footer and Lizzie Bowen nailed a left wing trifecta to extend their lead to 20.

Cunningham hit a 17-footer and Bowen banked in a left elbow shot for a 26-2 lead at the 3:17 mark. A foul shot by Codi Miller ended a 15-0 flurry.

Poling sank a lane bank shot to cut it to 27-4 with 2:33 remaining in the half. Black drained a left corner triple to make the score 30-4 at intermission.

Wolford opened half two by knocking down a 10-footer as a result of crisp ball movement. Poling swished a 17-footer with 5:50 to go in the third period.

Cunningham answered by drilling a left corner triple. But Poling canned a lane bank shot, and then she stole ball and drained a 15-foot pull-up shot.
Miller canned a trifecta yet Ada freshman Timber Blankenship knocked down a trey from the top of the key to make it 38-13.

Knight Haley Speith sank a layup and then hit a lane shot at the horn to push the margin to 42-13 heading to the final stanza.

Ada sophomore southpaw Alexis Waugh baked in a driving shot to start the fourth quarter. Light then received a good post entry feed from Poling and canned a short bank shot to cut the deficit to 44-17 with 3:55 left.

Crestview then closed the contest on a 7-0 run as Lizzie and Emma Bowen combined to make the last three baskets.

Cunningham paced a balanced Knight attack with 10 points. Lizzie Bowen contributed nine points and Wolford added seven.

Poling led Ada with 10 points on five field goals.

Ada canned seven two-point field goals and sank one trifecta. The Bulldogs shot just two free throws and missed both.

Crestview sank 21 field goals, including six triples, and converted just three of 10 free throws (30 percent).

The Lady Knight reserves also won a two-quarter JV game, 20-10. Blankenship led the Bulldogs with six points.
