CRIDERSVILLE - Host Perry turned the tables in their rematch with Ada and defeated the Lady Bulldogs 58-24 in non-league girls basketball action Tuesday night.

The purple and gold fell to 1-12 with the defeat, while the Lady Commodores improved to 1-9 with their first victory.

Ada earned its only win by beating Perry 51-37 a month ago to the day of the rematch.

"We did not show up to play in the first half," said new Ada head coach Morgan Bass. "Very frustrating. They are just quicker than we are.

"We struggled to stop the ball and then they hit some shots," she continued. "We also missed five or six layups in the first quarter and only scored three."

Perry raced to a 15-3 lead after the opening period and led 32-11 at halftime.
Commodore Tia Barfield led all scorers with 26 points, and canned all 10 of her foul shots. Guard Lily Floyd tallied 10 points.

Ada freshman Kirsten Poling led the Bulldogs with 10 points. Sophomore Miranda Wills contributed seven markers and classmate Alexis Waugh added five.

Ada canned seven two-point field goals and nailed one trifecta. The Bulldogs converted seven of 20 at the foul line (35 percent).

Perry sank 20 field goals, including five triples, and converted 13 of 20 free throws (65 percent).

Ada (1-5 home) hosts non-league foe McComb Saturday at noon. "I know the girls beat them last year (64-48) so I hope we can compete and redeem ourselves from tonight's game," said Bass.
