Ohio's new governor has many Ada connections

Ada and Ohio Northern University has a VIP friend in Columbus.

Ohio's new governor, Mike DeWine, a 1972 ONU law alumnus, took office yesterday.

A story Monty Siekerman wrote following DeWine's election in November listed the many Ad connections that the new governor holds.

These include:
• DeWine received his JD from the ONU law school in 1972.
• While a law student, DeWine participated in the Moot Court program and was the vice president of the Student Bar Association.
• By the time he attended law school, he was married with children.
• He received Distinguished Alumni Award from the law school in recognition of his legal service in 1985.
• Received an honorary doctorate from the university in 1995.
• Delivered the commencement address at the 2008 and 2017 law commencements.
• He was an adjunct professor of political science about a decade ago.

He has served as Ohio attorney general, in the U.S. Senate, as Ohio lieutenant governor, in the U.S. House of Representatives, in the Ohio State Senate, and as Greene County prosecuting attorney.
