’19 ONU women’s soccer schedule set

The Ohio Northern women's soccer program will open its 2019 campaign at the Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) Tartan Cup in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under 16th-year head coach Mark Batman.

The Polar Bears will face off against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) on Friday, August 30 and battle tournament host Carnegie Mellon Saturday, August 31 to start the season.

ONU raises the curtain on an eight-match home schedule with back-to-back contests against Wheaton (Ill.) and Hope (Mich.) on September 6 and 7, respectively. Both matches are slated for 3 p.m. starts.

The 2019 nonconference schedule also includes home dates with Calvin (Mich.) and Oberlin and visits to Denison, Adrian (Mich.), and Wittenberg.

Ohio Northern kicks off the conference season with a home contest against Marietta on Saturday, October 5 at 1 p.m. The match will also serve as the program's Senior Day.

Additionally, the Orange and Black are scheduled to host Wilmington, Heidelberg, and Capital in conference action. During league play, the Polar Bears will make trips to Baldwin Wallace, Muskingum, John Carroll, Otterbein, and Mount Union.

The Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament will begin November 5 with the quarterfinal round at campus locations across the league. The semifinals are slated for November 7, and the championship match will be played on Saturday, November 9.

Last season, Ohio Northern compiled a 14-4-1 overall record and a 7-1-1 OAC mark to finish second in the final league standings. The Polar Bears advanced to the OAC Tournament Finals where they fell to Otterbein 1-0 in extra time.
