What a mess!

But, just wait until the end of September to see the renovation results

The Ada police department is a mess – not the officers, rather the physical office.

But, that’s the plan, as work is now underway for a nearly $700,000 renovation of the Ada municipal building.

Kuhlman Builders, Ottawa, started the renovation earlier this week. The work should be finished by the end of September.

In the meantime, the police department is relocated on the second floor of the municipal building.

The municipal building is undergoing a major overhaul, which involve the police department and the village offices. In addition, an elevator will be added to the structure. Presently, there is no elevator access to the second floor where council meets.

Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger said that the to the police department improvements include a secure holding area for the temporary processing of prisoners and new office space for the police officers.

While the municipal building gets its much-needed renovation, Ada residents will see several additional villages projects start this year.

Those include the Willeke street phase 2, Ream Street project and ODOT paving project. It involves State Route 235 (Main Street) and State Route 81 (North Avenue). These roadways will be ground and resurfaced this spring.
