Ada boys lose to Bearcats

By Cort Reynolds
The visiting Ada baseball team lost a tough 4-1 battle at Spencerville in Northwest Conference baseball action Monday night.

Ada fell to 8-10  and 1-5 in the NWC with the defeat.

Spencerville improved to 5-15 and ended up 3-5 in the NWC with the win.

The Bearcats scored once in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead. They went up 2-0 after three, yet Ada's Dylan East scored in the top of the fourth frame to pull within 2-1.

But the hosts answered with a run in the home fourth, then tacked on an insurance tally in the bottom of the sixth to provide the final margin.

Bulldog junior center fielder East singled, stole two bases and scored the lone Ada run. Seniors Austin Amburgey, Ethan Hall and Jaylin Burkhart each added a single.

Ada senior Connor Frazier hurled six innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. The senior walked five and struck out three.

Winning senior hurler Zach Ringwald went all seven innings, allowing four hits and no earned runs. He struck out 10 Bulldogs and walked two. Burkhart and Landon Blankenship drew the Ada walks.

Ringwald also walked twice, scored a run and had one RBI. Junior Mason Myers doubled and tallied one run. Koenig had two hits, a stolen base and scored once.

Spencerville sophomore Cody Bockey singled twice and drove in one run. Leadoff man Kale Lee singled, stole a base and scored one run.

The Bearcats out-hit Ada, 6-4. The Bulldogs committed three errors while the Bearcats made one error. Ada left five runners on base while Spencerville stranded four.
